the meme originated from back when google+ was a thing and the users were telling people to go back to facebook. people reposted it ironically on tumblr and twitter to laugh at how ridiculous it is because google+ is dead now. now that it gained traction people started unironically thinking it would actually be a good idea to use it for a meme template.

we all understand the meme format, im saying that there is a general trend of people who aren’t black /only/ using aave / random images of black people in their memes. and that for me and a lot of other black people it starts to get weird when every single joke has to have aave or pics of black people that don’t illustrate the point being made. yes they’re Just Memes but why is a screenshot of kevin hart just smiling in some movie w aave text the go-to for a meme about sodom and gomorrah or how some kate bush albums are tonally different? why is a random black guy holding money the go-to for poking fun at yourself for being autistic?
it’s just jarring seeing stuff from white people in europe i follow but they’re sharing earnest memes about the beatles or w/e talking like mid 00s black american rappers. not advocating for segregating memes or w/e before people start running w that. I get The Joke, but part of The Joke is that aave and black people are inherently funny to people who aren’t exposed to them too often IRL and it’s time people admitted that to themselves
Thats a fair assessment actually and i do agree that some people would find the inclusion of a black person funny or apart of the joke if they arent exposed to it often irl, but im also finding it easy to think their inclusion is not contributing to The Joke as well. like, if it was a picture of a white guy squatting with money trying to look cool that had the same text, or if it was a white guy saying word for word what kevin harts character is saying in the other image, i don’t think it would take away from what actually makes the image funny- it just happens to be that a black guy took that picture, and a black guy had that line in a movie

these i noticed just over the past few days but there are countless examples in the wild all the time. just. can nonblack people be Normal about memes again … if you notice that you are not black yet all your Spicy Original Memes are full of aave and/or black people just existing? that’s something to change for the future. please.

Who cares about jokes about dick size? Idk I remember several posts by intersex people on here talking about how they do care about jokes of that manner.
